In July 2019 we struck out for destination: Yellowknife NWT , Great Slave Lake
and their ‘Midnight Sun Fly-In’. Some 60 aircraft flew in on wheels and on floats,
including some from the US.
A late night fish-fry at the old Wardair dock in the daylight at 11pm featuring Arctic Char, Whitefish, Great Slave Cod and Pickerel made for a great treat.
We met Buffalo Joe in the BBQ line-up and were promptly invited for a hangar tour the next day.
Another fun local dinner spot was Bullocks Bistro with its funky atmosphere and packed aviator crowd.
On the way back we landed at Hay River for fun and at Mackenzie for the obligatory ice cream cone that everyone gets from the nice lady there for buying fuel.
